Marmite
|
The Europeans are hitting us where it hurts, targeting this life sustaining substance which is barely sold outside the UK. Maybe we should declare a no-Nutella zone or something.

Funnily enough I bought two jars (jars, not fucking squeezy bottles) on monday from Tesco.
They had tons of the stuff on the shelf.
I think this is a sinister attempt by vege-mite to turn us into head-wand wielding, tin-foil wearing, paranoid cunts.

Accounting? Unilever is a Dutch company (they own Marmite) and account in either $ or Euros, not sure. Either way, their products are now more "expensive" to make in Sterling costs becaue of fall in the £.
Anyway, Marmite was invented by a German. Fuck 'em. I'm gonna buy BRITISH and just eat Fray Bentos pies from now on (oh, hang on...)

This is the only country that buys the stuff, so let's play hardball with the cunts.
Although, I am addicted to the stuff, so I'll buy it at whatever price.

Since when is it the role of the grocer to set the prices of their suppliers products. As long as they still get their margin and the punters continue to buy the product then that's all they should be concerned with. I'm no fan of multinational's like Unilever but if they have to sell a product at X in order to make their profit, then who are Tesco's to say they can't. It looks to me as though Tesco are throwing their weight around to boost their image.

All marmite production (and sourcing) is already done here. It sound like the kind of shameless profiteering from a company worth billions that should get your average lefty frothing at the mouth.

Because if they put their prices up, then shoppers will go to Sainsburys or somewhere else, they all try to remain competitive
